During his State visit to Cabo Verde in July, the President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, visited the Dr. Agostinho Neto Hospital in Praia, the largest hospital in the country. The hospital's medical oxygen central, which lets it produce its own oxygen on site, was engineered and installed by Ultra Controlo.
The visit drew attention to a quiet but critical piece of healthcare infrastructure: a hospital's ability to make its own medical oxygen, without depending on imported supply. In an island nation where a break in supply can be measured in hours of flight or shipping, that independence is a matter of patient safety.
